Another day passed and I didn't use #Algebra #maths again ??
This was on a wall post on Facebook. In fact we use Maths everyday in most things we do.
Now you have set the challenge, I have to think of something in everyday life where you use algebra.
You have to tile your kitchen you have measured the total space. 5 metres. Each tile is 50cm, So how many tiles do you need. 50 x a = 500. a= 500/50, a =10 tiles.
We use maths everyday with out even realizing it.
You go to the Myer stocktaking sale which I went to last week. It says 40% off the already reduced 50% off price $30. I can work this out quick smart. I know that 50% is half $15. Then to work out 40%; I work out 10% first and times it by 4. $1.50 x 4 =$6.
The one thing you will never use is trigonometry, those triangles sin cos and tan. I am sure someone who designs playgrounds i.e. swings would use it everyday.
How to read a graph. We use this anytime we try and read a bus or train timetable.
You kids are arguing over one piece of chocolate cake. Ok lets cut in half.
The electricity bill, phone bills comes in. Pay them and subtract them from your total savings. Make you money go further stick to a budget.
Credit card comes in pay it off in full each month or you will be paying 20 % on the it.

All the time we are bombarded with sale signs, so if we keep saying, "I hate maths !" We will become very poor indeed.
