How to dry your hair- towel dry + detangling

Towel drying roughs up the cuticles in the hair shaft and causes more tangling! 
Simply place a towel and wrap it over your head. Leave it there for a few minutes.
Microfibre towels are brilliant at absorbing water. I will have a look if I can find any  of these to put up for you.

You can gently pat your hair with your towel to catch the extra water, but do not rub or roughen the hair to dry it.
 Try not to use any heated styling tools or hair dryers, let it air dry!

Curly Hair Never "Fully" Detangles

 I just read that you can never fully detangle curly afro hair! Wow this is a real revelation. I needed to read this! When I comb and separate my daughter's hair I am aiming for every single strand to be knot free. I think to myself if I have more time I will do a better job. So now I know if there are some knotty parts its ok to leave them and just work on them another day. I just thought I wasn't doing a good enough job. So, its really an unreal expectation to have all the knots out. Thats why if I think back I have hardly ever achieved it. The only times are when I have been determined to do a 2 twist hair plats or braids all over her hair. This seriously took about 2 hours to achieve.

One last thing to take into consideration before your next detangling session is: that our hair never fully detangles. Our kinks, coils, and curls looooooove each other so much that they'd rather buddy up together than remain apart. This is the main reason why many naturals wash and detangle their hair in sections, and twist or braid each section up as they go along. So even if after 2 hours your hair isn't 100% tangle-free, that's okay. We're never going to get each and every single tangle out of our hair -- it is an impossible task. So save yourself some time, a few broken hairs, and a heap of conditioner by aiming to have your hair between 80 and 90% detangled each time.
